50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CADET TRAINING CENTRE
Did you know that the Cadet Training Centre was officially set up on 6 September 1958?
CHANGE OVER OF COMMANDANT
Lt Col Henry Eagan R WELSH has now taken over from Lt Col Julian Panton as Commandant CTC. Having come from the post of College Commander at RMA Sandhurst where he has been for the last 3 years, Lt Col Eagan knows the area and Frimley Park’s reputation as a Centre of Excellence well, and is delighted to be joining us.

CTC WEBSITE
1. This courses information on this site is now up-to-date for 2008; please note that the Year Planner (see Course Dates) has some amendments and now includes the dates of the Drill Courses which take place at Catterick. It may become a bit out-of-date as time goes on but I will correct any discrepancies on “Latest News”.
2. As you may be aware, we have to change our internet provider and, as a Regular Army unit we now have agreement that the MOD will take it on, it has become a long and complicated process. (The same is true for the 1st Aid website.) As ever, if in doubt please just email us if you have any queries. The new site is under test at the moment and you can have a look at it at:
http://www.army2.mod.uk/unitsandorgs/cadetscadet_training_centr/index.htm
4. Let us know what you think – we are working out a simpler route to get you there. Alan Mulder from Surrey ACF has been a great help in providing the new look.
ADS
The letter allocating ADS to CTC Courses went out before Christmas. Many thanks to all those who give up their own time to assist us here at Frimley Park, and to the County and Contingent staff who allow them to come. If you do have to cancel for any reason please try and give the CI plenty of notice so that he can find a replacement.
REGULAR & TA BRIEFING DAY
The Regular & TA Briefing Day on Thu 5 June regrettably had to be cancelled as there were too few bids.
2008/09 COURSE PROGRAMME
The 2008/09 Course Programme has a few amendments. The latest Course Programme for 2008/09 and its Year Planners are on our Courses page on this site. As well as the changes to the ‘Commandants and Seniors Officers’ and ‘Area Commanders’ Courses, please note there were a few amendments in the early part of 2008, these are: a Music rather than a Sports Conference on 9/10 Feb 08, the deletion of the Comdt’s Conference on 19/20 Apr 08, the re-instatement of the SO2 Conference on 7 May 08 and some minor amendments to the CFATO and TDA weekends in September and November.
PUBLICATIONS
1. The Publications Update on our Publications bar is now a bit dated as I haven’t been able to change it recently. DSDC(L), Llangennech, has closed now Their publications now have to be ordered through Bicester, the DSDA Help Desk is 01869-256052. They will be stored (in future) at HM Naval Base, Portsmouth. However, we have managed to get all Cadet Forms moved to CDS Aylesbury, so that they can be ordered and controlled in the same way as the pamphlets i.e. through Glen Williams. All these Forms, less two booklets, are still available electronically, from this Website (see Publications bar.). If there are any problems with these or any other publications, please contact the SO2 Publications at CTC, on 01276-65155 Ext 211.
2. Every adult should now have the new 2007 version of AC 71103 Customs of the Service.
3. The April 2007 edition of Pamphlet 21 was only issued to the cadet forces on a limited distribution. The new version, Pamphlet 21 C (Cadets) has been completed and a full issue will be made in August.
4. 3,000 more copies of the AC 71462 Cadet Training Manual Vol 1, incorporating amendments 1-6, have been being printed and are be available through Glen Williams. As before with the 4,000 previously issued this year, this is not a new edition, it is purely a reprint of the existing pamphlet.
5. The new Cadet Adventurous Training Handbook and the Cadet Target Rifle and Cadet Signals Training Syllabus pamphlets have been distributed.
6. Electronic copies of all publications are available from SO2 Publications – we are endeavouring to get a Publication Library onto WESTMINSTER and some publications onto the armycadets.com site.
7. The new version of AFE 529, the ACF Enrolment Form, was now been issued to Counties with enough for 100 to be issued to each Detachment – if you haven’t received them please let SO2 Publications know. Instructions on how it is to be handled were sent out by email.
8. A new Cadet Leadership Course DVD, filmed over the summer of 2007, was issued to Counties on a scale of 1 per Detachment.
9. Should you need more copies of the Enrolment Form or the DVD please contact Glen Williams as normal.
